Around 10,000 NRIs including representatives from India, Britain and Canada are likely to participate in a three-day event to celebrate the Telugu culture and language in America. The American Telugu Association's (ATA) 13th annual Conference and Youth Convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, beginning from Wednesday.

The event will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The celebration will coincide with the US independence day observed on July 4.

The fun-filled event will be co-hosted by ATA and the Telugu Association of Greater Delaware (TAGDV). Care has been taken to include events that would be appealing to Telugus of all generations – those who immigrated from India as well as the US born and raised.

According to the organizers celebrities like Nina Davuluri (first ever Indian-American Miss USA ) and representatives from India - like central and state ministers - are likely to attend the event.

Literary sessions are expected to be attended by legends like Garikapati Narasimha Rao, Jonnavithula, writers Saradapurna Sonty and Satyam Upadrashta, film writer Ananth Sriram and poet Acharya K Venkata Reddy.

Food will also be a high point of the event as delicious dishes from different regions of coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema will be served.

Besides a Women's Day will be marked as a signature event during the convention. Special focus will be on "saamaajika seva" (related to social and charitable service) in the US as well as India.

Conference convener Parmesh Bheemreddy says that US Telugus are looking forward to the event. He hopes that the Telugu community in the US will participate in great numbers.
