Pennsylvania student dies after skateboard accident in Campus

Faculty and students at a Pennsylvania college are mourning the loss of a student, who died from injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident in college campus.

Sam Jenkins, a sophomore at Swarthmore College was rushed to a hospital, after he fell off his skateboard on Friday afternoon on Magill Walk, which leads to the main administration building.

Few students, who witnessed the accident informed the emergency services and stayed with Jenkins until he the help arrived.Jenkins, who is a native of Rhode Island, passed away on Sunday, surrounded by his family members at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Jenkins was a “creative, joyful and gentle individual” who dreamt of running his own video game development studio, College President Valerie Smith said.

“What I will remember most about Sam, having taught him in two classes this year, is his unbridled enthusiasm, infectious laughter, passion, honesty, fearlessness, curiosity, and empathy,” said Professor Rodney Evans in a statement released by the college. “I will miss him beyond measure.”

Jenkins had recently attended a game developer’s conference and returned with a feeling that he had truly discovered what he wanted to do in life, according to college authorities.

The details about the incident have not been released by the hospital or the college, yet.
