A former Pennsylvania high school teacher, who was arrested for throwing “weed and alcohol parties” for teenagers, has been sentenced to 23 months in prisons, including 1 probation year.

51-year-old Jeffery Zeltt, a resident of Washington Township, Bucks County pleaded guilty on February 14 for throwing weed and alcohol parties for teens.

He was charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, furnishing liquor to minors, possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and distributing marijuana.

The former Hatboro-Horsham High School teacher confessed that he threw parties and supplied marijuana to teenagers. He even encouraged up to 50 teens at once drinking and smoking at his house.

“I allowed it,” he said in court “I encouraged it”.

Zellet said that after his wife committed suicide in 2015, he started self-medicating with alcohol and prescription drugs and felt that his teen girls were less grief-stricken, when her friends were around them at parties.

He believed that he was being responsible for not allowing teens to drive, while they were under the influence of alcohol.

Zeltt has been ordered to have no contact with teenagers during probation, and to have no contact with the victims in the case, and also to continue his therapy.

He has also been approved by the judge to be screened for work release, while serving his sentence.

Zeltt’s daughters have been staying with the family of friends throughout the trial.

Zeltt realizes that he “was a terrible parent, a terrible adult. I betrayed my daughters and their friends,” he said.
