An Indian origin man has been arrested in Massachusetts for allegedly killing his father with an assault rifle in Philadelphia. The arrest was made following an emergency warning issued by the Harvard University, according to media reports.

The 31-year-old Sohan Panjrolia, who was diagnosed with a chronic brain disorder Schizophrenia, shot his 60-year-old father Mahendra Panjrolia to death in their residence last month, The Philadelphia Inquirer said in a report.

According to police, as soon as gunning down his father, Sohan fled with the weapon in a car that was later found nearby.

The investigation team had earlier said Sohan may be using narcotics and should be considered “armed and dangerous”. The officials also probed Harvard University, where Sohan got a bachelor of liberal arts degree in 2013.

As a caution, Harvard officials issued an emergency alert that warned students to stay away from JFK and Eliot Streets. A university police officer found Sohan’s car, which helped locate him, parked near an ice-cream store.
