With the constantly rising numbers of the confirmed cases in the United States, it is no doubt that New York and New Jersey experienced the worse end of it. But, the recent reports from the governors of New York, New Jersey and Louisiana have suggested that the curve is gradually going down and levelling off round these areas.

Even though the cases in the United States have been rising consistently, the governors cited the data suggesting that the spread and the rate of hospitalisations is constantly slowing down. This is signalling reaching the peak of the outbreak in one of these three epicentres of the pandemic in the United States.

New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo stated saying that the death rate in the state has been gradually coming down but fluctuating at the same time.

The overall tally of the confirmed cases in the state further grew by 7% from the previous day, taking the overall tally to 130,680 at the moment. But, the admissions to the ICU and the hospitalisation have come down and even the individuals needing the ventilator machine has come down by a lot.

Cuomo further stated saying, “While none of this is good news, the possible flattening of the curve is better than the increases that we have seen. If we are plateauing, we are plateauing at a high level.”

The pace of the work for the first responders and frontline healthcare providers has been the same, without any changes in the pace and the overall results out of it.

New York Fire Department Lieutenant Anthony Almojera, in an interview with Reuters, stated saying, “Yesterday, I worked 16 hours and I had 13 cardiac arrests, and that’s a lot of death. I don’t know if any of us would ever be the same after this.”

Out of all the reported deaths in US so far, New York accounts for 2/3rd of it with over 4800 deaths. It reciprocates to around 45% of the overall death toll in the country.

Even the Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy stated saying that the rate of the increase of the confirmed cases in the state is currently at 12% increase, which is half of what they witnessed just a week back. He believes that the countries efforts to flatten the curve are actually working.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards stated saying that the new hospital admissions have been going down gradually. But, this is something that will only go around if the necessary mitigation steps are taken and implemented and people abide by the rules of self isolation and social distancing.

With some hope ahead, a new study from the University of Washington found that the number of fatalities in the United States by August 04 is likely to be around 81,766, which is around 12,000 less than what the research model showed in the weekend analysis.

The White House medical experts, on the other hand, have reported a possible forecast of 100,000 to 240,000 people in America.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases has already surpassed 1.3 million and has reported over 74,000 deaths.
