U.S experiences highest single day rise in deaths; crosses 26,000

While the novel coronavirus emerged from Wuhan, China, it propagated to impact United States the worst. The country currently has over 610,000 confirmed cases and the death toll has crossed 26,000.

With the news of possibilities of U.S being reopened in May, the country witnesses the highest single day rise in the number of deaths, reporting 2129 deaths in the past 24 hours, the previous highest of the country being 2,074.

New York is the epicentre of the novel coronavirus in U.S with over 200,000 confirmed cases with over 10,000 reported deaths so far, the numbers increasing vehemently.

In the daily White House press conference, President Donald Trump stated saying, “The United States is continuing to make substantial progress in our war against the virus. We grieve at every precious life that has been lost to the invisible enemy, but through the darkness, we can see the rays of light.”

President Trump has reported saying that they have been witnessing improvement with the process and that the numbers have been getting better with days. He believes that the country has successfully held its numbers and what they have done is quite powerful.

Trump also clarified saying that U.S has the maximum number of per capita ICU beds than any of the other worst hit countries like Italy, Spain and France. He said that U.S has 34.7 ICU beds per 100,000 people which is the best out of them all.

Aside from that, the Trump administration has also arranged for over 16,000 ventilators in the hospitals and the healthcare facilities that are currently not being use at the moment. He believes that U.S is prepared to tackle the virus heads on.

The US Food and Drug Administration has also sanctioned and approved the first test which has been developed from the Rutgers University that has been found to use the saliva from the patients.

“It is the first one. These tests can be self-administered by patients in healthcare settings, which will reduce exposure for medical workers and save personal protective equipment. Rutgers will begin processing 10,000 test daily,” Trump further clarified.
