Sony in Plans to Enter into EV Market with a New Firm

Japan's tech firm Sony Group who has been a leader in smartphones, mobiles, TVs and other electronics is all set to launch a new company to venture into the Electric Vehicle market. Sony is keen to play a bigger role in the EV market which is expected to be huge in the coming years. The company is named Sony Mobility Inc told Sony chairman and president Kenichiro Yoshida in a news conference ahead of the CES Technology Trade Fair in USA. He said that Sony Mobility Inc will redefine the mobility in the coming years. Several biggies made their ways into the Electric Vehicle market after considering the rising fuel prices and the pollution across the globe.

Sony is also keen to focus on the next generation of electric vehicles. The shares of Sony jumped by 4.2 percent in Tokyo after the plans of Sony's Electric Vehicle are announced. Kenichiro Yoshida revealed that a SUV is getting ready and announced VISION-S 01, VISION-S 02. The testing of these vehicles on the public roads began in December 2020 in Europe. Sony collected the feedback and the vehicles would be officially announced at a later date this year. Japan's Toyota Motor Corp is also busy with electric vehicles and the market is expected to touch 70 billion USD by 2030.
