Vivo X Fold 6 is set to arrive in China very soon. While the precise release date remains unknown, Vivo has begun to share key information about the device. It is confirmed that the phone will be equipped with a MediaTek processor and various AI capabilities. This new processor has been created by MediaTek in partnership with Vivo. The Vivo X Fold 6 will be introduced as the next model following the Vivo X Fold 5. It may feature a 6,900mAh battery and a rear camera with 200 megapixels. Recently on Weibo, Vivo's product manager Han Boxiao revealed that the Vivo X Fold 6 will be the initial smartphone to be launched with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor. This processor is reported to differ from the regular MediaTek Dimensity 9500. Several premium phones like the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro use the Dimensity 9500 SoC.
The company official mentioned that Vivo and MediaTek worked together for almost two years to custom-create this mobile chip for foldable phones. The new processor is claimed to present a "111 percent" boost in peak NPU performance in comparison to the previous version. It is also promoted as reducing power usage by 56 percent. It promises to provide "superior edge AI performance along with a highly steady edge AI experience. " Vivo notes that the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chip is tailored specifically for the large screen of the foldable phone and its AI functionalities. The AI voice system in the new processor is said to allow for faster offline speech transcription. The AI-created summaries are claimed to be up to 57 percent quicker with this version. This processor is also said to enhance the AI reasoning for the AI File Manager, text summarization, AI-based question-and-answer features, and the Atomic Workbench for multitasking.
The Vivo X Fold 6 has already been confirmed to come with OriginOS 6 Fold. There are rumors of an 8-inch inner display and a 6.51-inch outer screen. It may include a 6,900mAh battery, while the external camera setup might feature a 200-megapixel rear camera sensor along with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
